The International Rugby Academy (IRA) provides inspiration and a high performance development avenue for promising players and coaches from around the world. Our goal is to provide the highest level of rugby expertise ever assembled in North America. The programmes that we provide are highly personal and will enable you to maximise the opportunity of learning from coaches and specialists who have performed with distinction on the world stage.
We are proud to be adding our new high performance referees’ course to the programme, to ensure that the learning environment is complete, across the whole of the participants, who help create the game of rugby. This new course has been designed in consultation with Lyndon Bray, who was up until 2008 a leading test and Super 14 referee from New Zealand (he is now the High Performance Referee Manager for the NZ Rugby Union). The course has a balance between practise and theory and is designed to show you what you need to know about yourself and the role of the referee, in order to reach your maximum level. All of our staff and specialist coaches have been carefully selected and will be providing you, as a referee, with critical insights, relating to the game itself at the highest level.
This course will provide you with leading edge knowledge, different perspectives and it will be a challenging interactive 6 days. The environment will directly challenge your paradigm around refereeing. You will be introduced to the revolutionary “5 Pillars” for refereeing, linking referee development and the measurement of performance closely to the player model.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn from a referee who has gone through to the elite level of the professional game.
