The International Rugby Academy is proud to introduce the inaugural
SEVENS Coaches Course, 5-7th October 2012 at the Sport and Rugby Institute,
Palmerston North.
Rugby Sevens is the newest Olympic sport and will be introduced at the
Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. The Olympics
will deliver a new profile for rugby – new audiences, new commercial
opportunities and perhaps new giants of the game. The growth of the
game is thus expected to be phenomenal as both established and developing
nations embrace the opportunity to win an Olympic medal.
The Inaugural IRANZ Sevens
Coaching Course will provide Rugby coaches with the opportunity to be
exposed to, and learn from, legends of the Sevens game who have played or
coached at the highest level.
There will be a strong emphasis
on skills that relate specifically to the game of Sevens, tactical awareness,
strength and conditioning and techniques and methods required to coach at the
next level.
Coaches will be provided
with “leading edge” knowledge where the IRANZ specialist staff coaches will
work through team strategy, tactics and game plans with the coaches on the
programme.
